I teach private violin lessons out of my home studio in northwest Austin TX.

I teach beginning, intermediate and advanced violin and viola students. My beginning students are using a book called Kaleidoscopes written by one of my colleagues, Elise Winters-Huete. Kaleidoscopes begins with folk songs and incorporates singing do re mi’s (solfège) and uses the Suzuki philosophy of parent, child and teacher working together. Solfège singing is very helpful for violinists because it helps students correct or avoid intonation problems. I incorporate the Suzuki Violin School literature when the student has made significant progress through the first Kaleidoscopes book.

I teach private violin and viola to about 20 students ranging in age from 4 to adult. I live with my husband and we have two sons with families of their own. I play violin with the Balcones Community Orchestra and have a Music Education undergraduate degree and a Masters of Music Performance and long term Suzuki teacher training under John Kendall from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

If you are interested in studying with me we can talk about scheduling a regular weekly lesson time to be preceded by a parent orientation consisting of of 3, 45 minute lessons. The orientation can be a different time and day from the future scheduled private lessons. These 3 lessons give you and your child time to begin listening to the reference recording and learn to sing some of the songs and gives you time to read some literature about the Suzuki method.
