Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Truman State University, and completed Suzuki long term teacher certification with Susan Kempter at the University of New Mexico. In addition to her private studio, Kathy teaches 3rd through 8th grade violin and orchestra at the Waldorf School of St. Louis, a position she has held for five years. She has experience teaching both Suzuki and traditional violin lessons, leading group classes and clinics, and mentoring undergraduate music theory students.
In her teaching, Kathy embraces a philosophy which both challenges and nurtures students, and prepares them to push past obstacles with the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed. As a performer she has pursued many genres, including jazz, folk, orchestral, solo, and chamber music. She currently performs chamber music with the Parlor Trio, and the Maple Hill String Quartet. Kathy lives in Webster Groves with her husband and three year old daughter. Her other interests include visual art, history, and mythology.
