Ms. Kathy Garrison

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Truman State University, and completed Suzuki long term teacher certification with Susan Kempter at the University of New Mexico. She has experience teaching both Suzuki and traditional violin lessons, leading group classes and clinics, and mentoring undergraduate music theory students. Kathy additionally has experience of the Steiner/Waldorf teaching philosophy, and spent 10 years leading an orchestra and teaching at a Waldorf School in St. Louis, Missouri.

In her teaching, Kathy embraces a philosophy which both challenges and nurtures students, and prepares them to push past obstacles with the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed. As a performer she has pursued many genres, including jazz, folk, orchestral, solo, and chamber music. She currently performs as concertmaster of the Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra. Kathy lives in the Meadowbank area of Edinburgh.
