Kathi and her husband have recently relocated from the east coast to Carpinteria to be nearer to her sons and their families. She is looking forward to introducing children as young as age 4 as well as adults to the wonderful world of the cello at her new location.

Switching from piano to cello at the age of 12, her first teacher was Thomas Elmer a cellist, conductor, and luthier. She continued her studies with Eugene Klein at West Chester University and most recently with Bob Cafaro of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

She is freelance cellist, chamber and orchestral musician who was a long-time member of the Philharmonic of South Jersey and performed extensively with Pearl Duet, Trillium Piano Trio, and the Haddonfield Cello Society which she founded and managed. She has recently joined the Santa Barbara City College Orchestra.

As a dedicated Suzuki instructor and a member of SAA, Kathi is a passionate believer of Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy that “Every Child Can” with encouragement, practice, and commitment from parent and teacher.  She has taught cello and coached chamber groups at the Keynote Suzuki School of Music, Moorestown School of Music, and maintained a Home Studio in Haddonfield.  Her students have successfully auditioned for honors ensembles, youth orchestras and all-state orchestras.
