Katherine has come to the Milwaukee area from Phoenix, AZ by way of Nashville, TN and Bowling Green, KY. She is attending graduate school at UW-Milwaukee, working toward a Masters of Music in Viola Performance. Between her undergraduate degree and her masters degree, Katherine took two years to focus on teaching and gain the skills necessary to be a good teacher through a teaching internship. Now, with over two years of teaching experience of over 30, weekly, private students, she has moved to Milwaukee for the next chapter of her life.
Though she now holds a Bachelor of Music in Classical Viola Performance from Belmont University, Katherine began her studies at age five with Suzuki violin lessons. Excelling quickly on the violin, by age eight Katherine was a member of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony in the Phoenix, Arizona area. By age 10, she had added contest fiddling  to her studies and won her first contest as the Arizona State Junior Junior fiddle champion and has won many titles since, including placing in the top 10 at the national level. As a freshman in high school,  she added viola studies and then pursued those studies in college, graduating summa cum laude in May of 2017. While at Belmont she was invited to perform on the Belmont University Instrumental Honors Recital on the viola in the spring of 2016 and was selected as principal violist of the Belmont University Symphony Orchestra for the 2016-2017 season.
Katherine is well versed in classical music, oldtime fiddle style, texas style fiddle, pop music, as well as world music. Follow the hyperlink to see videos and hear recordings of Katherine performing in many of these genres. http://lilfiddler.weebly.com/media.html
