Kate Swanson is a violin teacher in the Littleton area utilizing the traditional vision of the Suzuki method for a strong instrumental foundation as the basis of her studio. These Suzuki components include:

  • Daily listening to ensure steady progress
  • Supporting the vital Suzuki parent role of attendance and note taking at all lessons as well as structuring and participating in practice sessions throughout the week
  • Daily expectation of practice with mastery of skills through repetition
  • Memorization and mastery of all pieces
  • Correct technique and posture for a beautiful sound
  • Emphasis on the importance of good character development through the challenges of studying music

Kate Swanson is a Colorado native who began her music studies at age five with the Suzuki method. She has performed in many ensembles, instrumentally with the Littleton Symphony and Stratus Chamber Orchestra, and vocally for local composer Francis J. Pierson as well as under choral director Rick Wheeler. Kate began her Suzuki teacher training with Suzuki Early Childhood Education under the program’s founder Dorothy Jones and completed her Suzuki Pedagogy studies under Kathleen Spring at the University of Denver. She earned her Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in Violin Performance under the tutelage of Mimi de Lemos.
