Kate E. O'Brien

Hello and welcome to my SAA webpage. I am the owner and founder of Mosaic String Academy in Portland, OR. We teach weekly private lessons as well as monthly group classes in a variety of genres. Come experience how your classical training can make our historical instruments sound so good in traditional, jazz, improv and modern formats!

I hold a degree in Music and have taught violin for twelve years. I am classically trained and incorporate the Suzuki Method into my classical teaching as well as teaching old-time fiddle. I have completed Teacher Training in books 1—4. I perform in Portland with the various bands and volunteer orchestras as well as chamber groups. I also sit in with country and bluegrass bands, am hired as a session musician and have toured the world performing and recording with various Folk and Rock groups.
