Kari began Suzuki Violin lessons at age 3 with her grandmother, Doralee Madsen. At age 12, Kari’s love of teaching the violin began as she tutored a few of her grandma’s violin students for the following six years.

The summer she graduated from high school, Kari started her Suzuki Training at the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute. She is certified in Suzuki Violin Books 1-10 and most of those books she has certified in multiple times!

Kari graduated with a degree in music from Utah State University where she studied under the direction of the renowned Fry String Quartet. She later studied with Simon MacDonald as she pursued Post Graduate work in Violin Performance at the Victoria Conservatory of Music in British Columbia.

In 2011, Kari completed the Suzuki Strings Mentorship Program at the University of Wisconsin at Steven’s Point where she studied with Pat D’Ercole. Kari presently studies with Linda Fiore to further her education in teaching the techniques of the violin. In 2022 she completed the “Wee Violin” workshop with Crystal Boyack and is excited to help parents give their children a fun, new way to practice the Pre-Twinkle steps!
