Karen Stefanik Collins, a Suzuki violin teacher, a Suzuki parent, and a former Suzuki student is currently a violinist with the Greensboro Symphony and recently retired from Greensboro Day School after 20 years as orchestra director and Suzuki teacher.  Karen holds a master’s degree in violin performance from Florida State University, bachelor’s degrees in violin performance and education from the University of Akron, and Suzuki certification for Books 1-8.  Moving to North Carolina in 1984, Karen began her teaching career in Southern Pines, NC.  She also taught violin and viola at the UNC Pembroke, string classes at UNC Greensboro, and Suzuki violin at Greensboro College.  

Prior to moving to North Carolina, Karen performed with Akron and Canton Symphonies in Ohio, Columbus Symphony in Georgia, Lynchburg Symphony, Philharmonica de Caracas, and Highland Chamber Orchestra.  

Karen Collins is very passionate about string education and the Suzuki method.  She has shared the gift of string music with 1000’s of students across the country.
