Violin, Viola Teacher
Kania Gandasetiawan is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine where she earned dual degrees including a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance. She has studied with Jerzy Kosmala, Hong Khanh Nguyen, Daniel van Andler, and continues to study violin and viola privately with Gene and Chika Wie.
She took Suzuki Teacher Training under the guidance of Sherry Cadow at the Colburn School in Los Angeles. She performed in the inaugural season of the Capistrano Chamber Music International Festival, and performed side-by-side with professional musicians in the Capistrano Conductor’s Institute Orchestra. She currently serves on the instructional staff of the Suzuki String Academy of the Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California in Irvine and the Suzuki String Academy at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano.
She has worked with various students ranging in age from pre-school to adult. Her lessons focus on interactive methods individually tailored to each student’s personality and developmental needs.
