June Bender is a versatile violinist and teacher from Philadelphia. June earned her bachelors in Violin Performance from Temple University, and masters in Violin Performance with Suzuki Pedagogy emphasis from The Hartt School. Her primary teachers include Katie Lansdale, and Philadelphia Orchestra members Lisa-Beth Lambert and Yumi Ninomiya Scott. June completed Suzuki training in Books 1 through 3 with Carrie Reuning-Hummel, and long-term Suzuki teacher training in Books 1 through 8 with Teri Einfeldt.
In addition to freelancing as a classical violinist, June stays active playing many styles of music including Irish fiddle, tango, swing jazz, and freely improvised music. She was a longtime member of Philadelphia’s first tango ensemble, Oscuro Quintet, which released a self-titled album. June performs regularly in Philadelphia with Arcana New Music Ensemble, Prometheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Belleville Quartet.
June teaches at Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, NJ, Maestro Kids after-school program, and from her home studio in Ardmore, PA. She aims to instill a deep love and appreciation for music in her students, and enjoys teaching all ages and levels.
