Julia Harris has been a Suzuki approach teacher over 30 years and currently teaches violin, viola, Celtic fiddle, and hammered dulcimer privately in Tulsa. She plays northern (Celtic) traditional fiddle music, particularly Scottish, Cape Breton, Shetland, Quebecois, New England and English Country dance music.

Julia has been both a performing and implementing artist with the Harwelden Institute and has been an Artist-in-the Schools since 1992. She holds a Masters Degree in Gifted Education from the University of Tulsa and a BSE in Music from the University of Arkansas.

Julia also performs as a violist with the Signature Symphony in Tulsa and the Bartlesville Symphony. She played with the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra from 1974 until its close in 2002.

Group lessons and recitals are held in collaboration with Eric Ryan Johnson who, in addition to being an outstanding Suzuki teacher, is a fine Irish fiddler. Their students have the option of learning Irish music and playing for other events including contra dancing.

Julia is an Accredited member of Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, and her students have the benefit of participating in local and state events through that organization.
