Dr. Palac received a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in violin from the University of Texas. She is an associate professor of music education at Michigan State University, and Emeritus Director of the MSU Suzuki program. Palac is a specialist in string education and performing arts medicine. She has been director of the Suzuki Programs at MSU and at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She is published in the fields of performing arts medicine, string teacher education, and the Suzuki method in such journals as American String Teacher and Medical Problems of Performing Artists, Bulletin for the Council for Research in Music Education, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinics of North America. Palac has held several positions with the American String Teachers Association, including president of the Michigan chapter, and national member-at-large. She was ASTA’s Michigan String Teacher of the Year in 2003. She’s currently a member of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, as well as a licensed Andover Educator, trained in the technique of Body Mapping.
