Mrs. Joyce Smith

Joyce Smith attended the Grande Prairie Regional College, then transferred to the University of Alberta where she completed a Bachelor of Music degree concurrently with an Associate of Music in piano performance with the Western Board of Music (First Class Honours). During this time, she received a number of scholarships and awards. She has taught piano for many years from her home as well as at the Grande Prairie Regional College Conservatory and other locations in Grande Prairie and Sexsmith. She enjoyed many years as a church musician as well as an accompanist for the Hythe & District Community Choir. She has also had specialized Suzuki teacher training with Dr. Haruko Kataoka, Merlin Thompson, Rita Hauck, Joan Krzywicki, Susan Magnusson, Gail Lange, and Caroline Fraser. She also teaches music theory, music history, harmony. She enjoys teaching piano students of all levels.
