A dedicated teacher of 25 years, pianist Jonathan Moyer is passionate about working with students of all ages. During his 22 years as a resident of Connecticut, he taught at The Hotchkiss School, Kent School, The Hartt School, and Farmington Valley Academy. He is an accredited Suzuki teacher and trained at the Chicago Suzuki Institute with Caroline Fraser. He currently lives in Brasília, Brazil, where he started the Aquarela Suzuki Studio with his wife, violinist Luciana Arraes, and is a founding teacher of Lago Sul Suzuki Studio.

Jonathan performs frequently and has given solo and chamber music concerts in the US, Brazil, Germany, and Portugal. He received the Bachelor of Music (summa cum laude), Graduate Professional Diploma, and Master of Music degrees from The Hartt School (University of Hartford), and was recognized by the school with awards for “the pursuit of excellence in piano performance” and for “outstanding service and performance.” Additionally, he won 1st prize in the Old Dominion University Classical Period Piano Competition, runner-up in the CSMTA Young Artist Competition, and the Piano Duo Prize with partner Tamila Azadaliyeva at the FORUM Internacional de Musica Barcelona Ciutat. His piano studies also took him to Russia, Italy, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Portugal, and Brazil.

Jonathan is a coffee connoisseur and film buff, and enjoys downhill skiing, bodysurfing during beach vacations, and baking bread. He often performs with his wife, Luciana Arraes, violinist in the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional and fellow Suzuki teacher.
