Miss. Ji Yeon Shin
Originally from South Korea, Ji yeon Shin holds a Master’s degree in Violin Performance from Pennsylvania State University and a Graduate Professional Diploma for Violin Performance from The Hartt School of Music. Currently, she is pursuing a D.M.A. in Violin Performance with an emphasis in String Pedagogy at the University of Oregon, where she serves as a graduate teaching fellow under the guidance of Kathryn Lucktenberg.
Ji yeon has performed as part of the Seoul Youth Orchestra in South Korea, and the Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra. She has also given solo and chamber recitals in Korea, the United States, and participated in various orchestra concerts for music festivals in the United States and Canada.
A founding member of the Alpaca String Quartet, Ji yeon served as second violin. The quartet was nominated as the Fellowship String Quartet for the Chamber Music Institute in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as well as the Resident String Quartet for the Aria International Music Academy in the summer of 2014.
Ji yeon has been teaching violin since 2007 in Korea and the United States, and is also a registered Suzuki teacher. She plans to continue furthering her training as a teacher at future workshops and institutes.
