Jessica Petrides earned her BA in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan where she studied with Aaron Berofsky, followed by a MA in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of Stephen Rose and Kimberly Meier-Sims.
During her time at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Jessica gained a lot of very valuable teaching and performing experience. Through the school’s work study program, she had the opportunity to teach private lessons and group sectionals to middle school and high school aged students at the Cleveland School of the Arts. She also taught beginning Suzuki violin and beginning music theory classes to elementary through high school aged students through Tri-C Metro’s arts division. While earning her Master’s Degree, Jessica gained a lot of preliminary teaching experience while teaching at Royalton Music Center and Warren Henry Music, which are both music stores in the greater Cleveland area. Teaching at these stores allowed her to work with a wide range of ages and earn a lot of hands on experience.
Following the completion of her Master’s Degree, Jessica performed with the Canton Symphony Orchestra for close to 3 years, and also with the Blossom Festival Symphony Orchestra for 3 summers. Jessica set out to start a private teaching studio in the spring of 2011, and eventually transitioned from teaching at stores to teaching a studio of 15 students from her home. In addition to her private and group Suzuki teaching experience, she completed Kindermusic teacher training with Ardis Billey in the fall of 2011.
Jessica teaches from her home in Elm Grove and is also a stay at home and homeschooling mom to her three young daughters. She loves working with students of all ages and strives to create a lesson environment which is positive, supportive, and nurturing. She understands that each student has his/her own learning style, and aims to find the style that will enable each student to grow as a person and a musician.
