Viola, Violin Teacher
I teach in inner SW (John’s Landing) Portland, OR and enjoy helping children and parents make music an integral part of their life. I offer every other week group classes on Saturday mornings, and have a mixed age studio (currently 4-60+!) that is a particularly warm atmosphere for learning at every age. I note that I am only accepting kid students at this point. I’m a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and founding member of the Cascadia Chamber Group. Please visit my website for more information about me.
I am strongly committed to life long learning of my craft, teaching. I do video self-review regularly, as well as supplementary trainings. This year I am doing a book 1-10 review with acclaimed violin teacher Clarisse Atcherson, (who I note is a suzuki teacher trainer having trained with John Kendall extensively, but didn’t jump through all the hoops for the SAA because she was so successful) and Music Mind Games unit 1 training. Last year I did creative violin training with Sara Smolen, which I incorporate into our group classes. I care about expanding my knowledge, and tools of communicating that knowledge effectively. My two little girls, 0 & 2, also teach me a lot about how to communicate with kids.
I am also a musiclink teacher, who offers discounted lessons to students on free or reduced lunch programs.
I note that I am trying to get one more 4-6 year old to round out my 2016 studio enrollment. I am offering a sizeable discount to entice you! Inquire at my website, or through this.
