Welcome! I have a few spots for a new student January 2024. Please inquire! We are preparing for our concert at the Schnitz in March 2024!

I offer high quality individualized instruction on violin and viola to your child. While I do offer traditional Suzuki (parent involved) lessons, I note that I also cater to the needs of the modern family by having some kids, who demonstrate the ability to do so, to practice directly with me with less direct parental support.

I believe that your child, whatever they choose to do in their life, will be better for having studied violin or viola.

I teach in inner SW (John’s Landing) Portland, OR and enjoy helping children and parents make music an integral part of their life. As a son of two teachers (one of whom also did counseling and then pastoring), teaching is a way of life for me learned young, and applied throughout my life. I bring a passionate and dynamic teaching style that connects to children where they are. Children earn responsibility with age appropriate tasks. We have fun, and work.

I’m also a Suzuki parent! With a combined 10 years as a practice partner between 2 kids. This has only heightened my awareness of the challenges the parent role faces, and how much fun it can be! My role as teacher is to make sure you understand what to do with your child to have an enjoyable violin practice. Your child’s role is to be a child.

My program consists of group classes on Saturday mornings, roughly 2x per month, in addition to weekly individual lessons. My mixed age studio (currently 5-70+!) is a warm atmosphere for learning at every age.

Tell me about yourself. What are your reasons for enlisting your child in violin lessons?

I note that I also incorporate creative violin training in my teaching (Fun Improvisation for Children & more, listed on the back of your Suzuki volume 1). Kids love it because it is super fun and engaging. It helps players to be more well rounded, and gives another FUN activity to play.

I am also a musiclink teacher, who offers discounted lessons to students on free or reduced lunch programs. I do not want price to be a factor in not studying with me.

If interested, please inquire! I have a discount for new families who are dedicated enough to be reading this far. Just ask for my ‘dedicated parent learner’ discount!

Thank you for your interest!
