Dr. Jennifer Walvoord

Jennifer Walvoord graduated with her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She has Master’s degrees in both violin performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.  Her former teachers include Andrew Jennings, Aaron Berofsky, and Martin Katz.​Jenny has taught on the violin faculty at Calvin College (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts, and she has served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Violin at Hope College.  Jenny currently teaches violin and coaches chamber music at the Conservatory of Music Hudson and maintains a private violin studio as well.  Jenny’s private violin students have attended such music festivals as Interlochen Arts Camp, Brevard, Meadowmount and Pheonix Phest and have gone on to win several competitions in Michigan.  Several of her students have gone on to study music in college.

Jennifer holds the position of concertmaster with the West Michigan Symphony  and has been a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Flint Symphony Orchestra, and National Repertory Orchestra (Breckenridge, Colorado).  She has played with the Canton Symphony, Akron Symphony, BlueWater Chamber Orchestra (Ohio) and the Cleveland Pops Orchestra.  She has performed as soloist with the West Michigan Symphony, the Holland Symphony Orchestra and the Hope College Orchestra.  While at the University of Michigan, Jennifer performed electric violin on the Grammy Award-winning recording of William Bolcom’s Songs of Innocence and Experience conducted by Leonard Slatkin.

Jennifer is an active chamber musician, and she performs recitals regularly with her husband, pianist Dr. Andrew Le.  Jennifer and Andrew are the Artistic Directors of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck.  She also does freelance graphic design work for such organizations as the Holland Symphony Orchestra.  Jennifer and Andrew live in Hudson, OH with their son, Matthew and daughter, Katherine.
