Jeanne Johannesen teaches Suzuki cello and violin and coaches Cello Choir and Chamber Ensembles at Wheaton College Community School of the Arts. She also directs orchestras as part of the music reading program. Jeanne has been actively involved with the Suzuki program since she first worked with Dr. Suzuki in the late 1960’s. She recently retired as orchestra director from Wheaton public schools. She holds a BME from Illinois State University and a Master of Music in Cello Performance from De Paul University. Her cello teachers include Christoph Henkel, Phil Blum, Gilda Barston, Frank Miller, Karl Fruh, and Tanya Carey. Violin teachers include Won Mo Kim and Eugene Gratovich.

Jeanne has played with the Chicago Symphonic Pops Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Charleston (S.C.) Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic, New Philharmonic, Elmhurst Symphony, DuPage Opera Theater, Harper Symphony, Oak Park River Forest Symphony, and many other ensembles. In addition, she performed as soloist with the Harper Symphony and the College of DuPage Chamber Orchestra. She performs occasionally for the Glen Ellyn—Wheaton Musicians’ Club.
