Jeanne Johannesen teaches Suzuki cello and violin and helps coach the Cello Choir at Wheaton College Community School of the Arts, and has also taught music theory and directed ensembles and chamber orchestra. Jeanne has been actively involved with the Suzuki program since she first worked with Dr. Suzuki in the late 1960’s. She also teaches elementary school orchestra in Wheaton public schools. She holds a BME from Illinois State University and a Master of Music in Cello Performance from De Paul University. Her cello teachers include Christoph Henkel, Phil Blum, Gilda Barston, Frank Miller, Karl Fruh, and Tanya Carey. Violin teachers include Won Mo Kim and Eugene Gratovich.

Jeanne has played with the Chicago Symphonic Pops Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Charleston (S.C.) Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic, New Philharmonic, Elmhurst Symphony, DuPage Opera Theater, Harper Symphony, Oak Park River Forest Symphony, and many other ensembles. In addition, she performed as soloist with the Harper Symphony and the College of DuPage Chamber Orchestra. She performs ocassionally for the Glen Ellyn—Wheaton Musicians’ Club.
