After graduating with a Bachelor of Music from McGill University, Jeanette has been a Suzuki piano teacher from 2004 to present. She teaches at McGill Conservatory of Music and maintains a home studio in Brossard, where a music preparation class is also given to the young children of age 3.5 to 4.
Currently, she is pursuing training in Dalcroze certification from Longy School of Music of Bard College, Boston, MA. This is a method of music education “in and through” music, using the body and movement to discover the connection between music and the physical senses and to understand music through such connections, which she applies in her teaching in all the individual, group and preparation classes.
Jeanette believes in the importance of an all-rounded music education—which covers the development of listening, of reacting to sound and music, of expressing what you hear in your body movement, of relating all the above to executing, which is the performance on an instrument.
In addition to piano, Jeanette has many years of experience in the choral world. She sang in choirs since childhood, through university and after. She was the past assistant conductor of the South Shore Children’s Chorus (2001-2010) and music director of St-Lawrence Church in Lasalle (2006-2010).
Since 2012 Jeanette is the vice president of the group Suzuki Musique Montréal.
