Born into a musical family of 8 siblings, Jacob started learning to play the piano at age 3, and began both the violin and cello a few years later.  He continued lessons in all three instruments until the end of high school.   He has completed his final year of a piano performance degree at Dalhousie University, under the primary tutorship of Peter Allen.  He also continues to study cello at Dalhousie with Shimon Walt.  He has participated in several music festivals, including Scotia Festival of Music 2017-19, and the Kiwanis Music Festival, where he won the 2019 Piano Rose Bowl.   Solo and orchestral experience includes performances as a member of several community orchestras, principal cellist of Dalhousie Symphony from 2017-2020, and five soloist appearances in Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Night series.  He has been given several awards and scholarships at Dalhousie, including the Georg Tintner Prize, the James and Abbie Campbell Scholarship in Music, and the Fountain Prize in Music.  His teaching experience began several years ago teaching siblings, and has expanded into a private studio based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and currently is teaching at the Scotia Suzuki School of Music.  Jacob’s ultimate goal is to use his musical gifts for the glory of God.
