Honor has been teaching music since 1981, with extensive training in the Suzuki Flute Method. She has directed many ensembles and is active as an adjudicator, clinician and performer. Many of her students have gone on to have careers in music, have placed highly in competitions and won medals in RCM exams. Several of Honor’s students have participated in Manitoba Honour Bands, The Winnipeg Youth Orchestras and the National Youth Band of Canada. Honor has performed throughout Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Barbados. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the Manitoba Band Association. Honor has been of the faculties of the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and the U of M Preparatory Studies Division. She also taught private music lessons at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate for 15 years. Honor is a former member of the Winnipeg Wind Ensemble and a founding member of the Winnipeg Flute Fest. Honor has studied with Laurel Ridd, Jan Kocman, Mary Wilson and Michelle Miller. She received her Suzuki training at The Greater New Orleans Suzuki Institute and the Great Lakes Suzuki Institute from June Warhoftig, Jerrilee Kechley and David Gerry. Honor has performed in masterclasses with Robert Aitken and William Bennett among others and has attended workshops by James Galway and Jim Walker.
