Holly Blackwelder Carpenter begin her violin studies at age 5 with Kathleen Spring, in Walla Walla, WA. She received her BA in Music and Theology in 2000 from Walla Walla University. Holly has registered training in the Suzuki Violin Method, units 1-7, and units 9-10. She also received tracing for Books 1-3 as a review unit, in Spanish. Holly taught in the string preparatory program at Walla Walla College, from 1995-97 and 1997-2000 and at the Universidad Peruana Union near Lima, Peru from 1997-98. She maintained a small studio in Austin, TX from 2003-2006 and a full studio in the Seattle area, from 2006-2014. In 2014 she moved to Walla Walla, WA and built up a private studio. In 2016 she was hired as the Strings Director for Rogers Adventist School, where she instructs a full private studio in addition to directing 3 Orchestras for students in grades 3-8. She served as the Director of the Japan Seattle Suzuki Institute from 2010-2018. Holly served on the Board of the Suzuki Association of the Americas from 2014-2016. Holly received a MA in Old Testament, from Andrews Theological Seminary and a MA from the University of Texas at Austin in Hebrew Language and Literature.
