Ms. Hannah Gebhard is a Cellist and Suzuki Teacher currently based in Hartford, CT. Growing up in Saratoga Springs, NY, she started her musical journey at 6 years old on piano and began playing cello in 4th grade. At age 13 she started studying privately with beloved local teacher Susan Nazzaro, continuing with her until she left for college. Ms. Gebhard attended SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music beginning in 2011 with a major in Music Education. After a summer of non-stop practicing and musical inspiration, she chose to change her major to cello performance, though never losing her love of teaching. While at Crane, she studied cello with Dr. Brian Carter and Professor Emeritus Dr. Mathias Wexler.

Ms. Gebhard has participated in multiple summer music festivals. Beginning when she was hired as the orchestral pit cellist for the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth MA, learning and performing a total of nine musicals over one summer. She also participated in NYU’s Summer Chamber Music Program where she studied with the renowned cellist Marion Feldman and worked with chamber coach Professor Shmuel Katz. Most recently Ms. Gebhard was able to spend her summer in her hometown, as a counselor at the NYSSSA School of Orchestral Studies at Skidmore College, where she enjoyed mentoring young musicians and coaching two chamber ensembles.

Ms. Gebhard is currently in the second year of her Masters at the Hartt School of Music, majoring in Cello Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy. She studied cello with Professor Mihai Tetel during her first year and is currently studying with Grammy Nominated Cellist Terry King. She is receiving her Suzuki Training from well-known Suzuki Pedagog Nancy Hair and will be certified in Suzuki Books 1-8 by the time she graduates. Outside of her academic endeavors, Ms. Gebhard enjoys a thriving lesson studio, teaching Violin, Viola and Cello Lessons in Music & Arts in East Hartford, and Middlesex Music Academy in Middletown, CT. She has been teaching privately for 8 years and has experience with students of all ages and abilities.
