Hannah Frey received both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Linda Cerone and William Preucil. She has pedagogy training through various Suzuki Institutes with Susan Kempter and others, has attended Indiana University’s Retreat for Violin Teachers with Mimi Zweig and has been teaching violin for over 20 years. In addition to her private studio Hannah is on the faculty at Washington University of St Louis and at Lindenwood University.
Hannah is an active chamber and orchestral musician. She has played all over the St Louis area as a member of the Perseid Quartet and other groups, and had performances this season at the World Chess Hall of Fame, the First Tuesday Composer’s Club, Christ Church Cathedral, and Southwestern Illinois College. She is currently concertmaster of the Winter Opera St Louis Orchestra. She also plays regularly with the American Kantorei Orchestra, the Metropolitan Orchestra of St Louis, and the Union Avenue Opera Orchestra. She has performed as an extra with many other groups in the area including the St Louis Symphony, the MUNY Orchestra and with visiting shows at the Fox Theatre.
Before moving to St Louis in 2008 Hannah was a member of several different orchestras, including the Charlotte Symphony and the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. She has also held the positions of concertmaster of the Mansfield Symphony, assistant concertmaster of the Cleveland Chamber Symphony and was a regular substitute with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
