Mr. Grant Nakano is an active pianist and teacher in the SouthBay/Santa Monica Bay area. Founder of the Nakturne Music School, Mr. Nakano enjoys his studio of dedicated and enthusiastic students.
Mr. Nakano holds graduate degrees in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy and has had the pleasure of studying under the guidance of Dr. Tania Fleischer (Juilliard/UCLA), Howard Lubin (Juilliard), Dr. Jane Magrath (Northwestern) Dr. Barbara Fast. (University of Oklahoma).

An international performer and teacher, Mr. Nakano served as Director of Applied and Group piano at the Leysin American School in Leysin and collaborative pianist with the Echo des Tours choir, Switzerland. His experiences aboard, lend to his worldly teaching and performing style.

When not teaching, he enjoys performing as collaborative pianist for several South Bay area private music studios, and at the Manhattan Beach Middle School.

Mr. Nakano currently sits on the Board of Directors as Chair of MTAC Santa Monica Bay, MSSL. As of 2016, Mr. Nakano has been recognized a Nationally Certified Teacher by the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Mr. Nakano’s award-winning students have gone to pursue music studies at major universities across the country.
