Learning the Guitar is something that should be fun and an experience that brings joy to an individual’s life. Beginning to learn an instrument as soon a child and their parents are ready can help provide a lifelong love of playing music. Teaching a child by ear at first facilitates learning for very young students. While starting young has extraordinary benefits it is never too late to pick-up the guitar.

George holds a B.A. in music from UMass Dartmouth, where he studied with William Riley, and a M.M. from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA where he studied with David Patterson (New World Guitar Trio). He has studied in masterclasses with Ben Verdery, David Zohn and Luiz Montovani (Brazilian Guitar Quartet). He has taught guitar for over 15 years and has had teacher training as part of his graduate degree from the Longy School of Music. He is a registered Suzuki instructor and received training from Frank Longay, Marylou Roberts, Andrea Cannon, Joe Pecoraro, David Madsen and Bill Kossler. George accepts students starting at three years old and up.

As a performer, George Little has been enthusiastically received by audiences throughout New England, and has a series of performance awards to his credit including the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra/Lillian B. Lamaroux award. At Longy, George has advocated the guitar’s role in chamber music through numerous collaborations including using the guitar to accompany Schubert art songs originally composed for voice and piano. Recent projects include the cross-over jazz duo, The New Boston Duo, rooted in the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli while exploring music o South America, Flamenco, Rock and Bluegrass.
