Gabriela Fogo
My experience includes more than 10 years of teaching traditional private and group lessons and coaching youth orchestras in Brazil and the USA. As a graduate assistant at UNM, I taught undergraduate violin and viola students. My goal is not only teaching but doing it in an engaging, supportive and nurturing environment.
As a Suzuki teacher, I taught at the UNM String Lab School private violin lessons and coordinated Suzuki group lessons. I obtained Suzuki long-term training from books 1 to 10 under the guidance of renowned Suzuki Teacher Trainer Susan Kempter at The University of New Mexico.
I have a BM degree in violin performance from Faculdade Cantareira—São Paulo, Brazil—and an MM degree in violin performance and string pedagogy from the University of New Mexico. I am currently pursuing a DMA degree at Florida State University in violin performance. As a performer, I have more than 15 years of orchestral experience and have performed as a soloist, concertmaster and chamber musician with numerous ensembles around the world.
In 2019 I represented Brazil as a member of the Orchestra of the Americas. Currently, I perform as principal second violin in the New Mexico Philharmonic Orchestra and as a member of the Santa Fe Symphony.
