Gabe Becker
Gabe began his guitar and musical studies in 2001 at American River College in Sacramento, CA. After receiving a performance-based scholarship, he studied jazz guitar with Kurt Shiflet, and classical guitar with Brandon Yip. He went on to study classical guitar at California State University, Sacramento with Dr. Savino. Upon returning to CSUS for his graduate work, Gabe studied guitar in master classes with many prominent guitarists; Angel Romero, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Jason Vieaux and many others.

From the beginning of his guitar studies, Gabe has enjoyed the process of teaching and bringing the guitar to life in the hands of his students. As a graduate assistant to Dr. Savino, he taught classical guitar technique and ensemble classes with undergraduate students. From 2012 to 2014 Gabe taught beginning and intermediate guitar classes at Yuba Community College in Marysville, CA. After a guest performance by Gabe in California’s Folsom Prison in 2009, Gabe started a classical guitar program at CSP-Sacramento (Folsom Prison) and has continued to teach there on a regular basis. Gabe studied the Suzuki Guitar Method with Mr. Frank Longay in 2005 and 2007 and has been teaching his private students with the method in his Suzuki Guitar Program ever since. As well as teaching, Gabe performs regularly in ensembles and as a solo classical guitarist in Sacramento.

  • Master of Music degree California State University, Sacramento, 2010

  • Bachelor of Music degree in 2006 from CSUS.

  • As a student of Dr. Savino at CSUS, Gabe performed in Master Classes for some of today’s foremost classical guitarists: The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, David Tannenbaum, Angel Romero, Jason Vieaux, Denis Azabagic, Lily Afshar, and others.

  • Suzuki Guitar Teacher Training.

Mr. Becker has been teaching guitar in the Sacramento area since 2001. After studying the Suzuki Method for Guitar in 2005 with Frank Longay, and with guidance from then teacher Brandon Yip, Mr. Becker began a Suzuki Guitar program in Sacramento.
