Frances Brodeur is a celebrated flutist and teacher based out of New York City.  As a performer, she can be seen currently in concert a s Principal Flutist with the String Orchestra of Brooklyn (SOB) as well as with the Park Slope Chamber Players.  With 30 years of professional experience, she has performed throughout the greater New York City area with some of the region’s most prestigious ensembles, including the Staten Island Symphony, Bronx Symphony, and Hunter Symphony to name a few.  She has also played in the pit of the Regina Opera and Island Lyric Opera.  In addition to her thriving performance career, Frances runs a private music studio out of her home located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn for children and adults ages 5 and over. She also serves on the faculty of the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Park Slope Music Lessons, and Saint Ann’s School where she teaches flute, piccolo, recorder and piano.

Frances holds a Master of Arts in Flute performance from the Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College, a Bachelor of Music in Flute performance from Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music and a Diploma in Flute performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Her private instructors have included some of the preeminent flutists of the era, including, Ransom Wilson (Yale), Denis Bouriakov (Los Angeles Symphony), Keith Underwood, Mindy Kaufman (New York Philharmonic), Stephanie Mortimore (MET Orchestra), Linda Chesis (Manhattan School of Music), Bernhard Goldberg (Pittsburgh Symphony), and Philip Kaplan and Paul Fried (Boston Symphony).

Frances finds great joy in experiencing her students’ growth as musicians and observing their increased maturity as they progress. Originally from Massachusetts, she now calls Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn home, and is the proud mother of two grown sons. In her free time she enjoys yoga and biking.
