Felix Bullock is in demand as a guitar instructor in the Monrovia/Pasadena area and the greater San Gabriel Valley. He has been teaching since 1987 and in southern California since moving here in 1996. Students of Mr. Bullock have been finalists and winners of the Parkening International Youth Competition, Guitar Foundation of America Youth Competition, American String Teachers Association and have appeared on the public radio show “From the Top.”

Felix has taught at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music since 2002 and was recently appointed to the California School of the Arts (CSARTS) in Duarte as guitar coordinator. He has also taught teachers to teach at Cal State Long Beach. Felix is also director of the Los Angeles Youth Guitar Orchestra (LAYGO) which has taken tours of California and Europe.

Mr. Bullock received his Bachelor of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD and his Master of Music degree from USC. Felix has performed as soloist in Stuttgart, Germany, Medillin, Colombia, San Francisco and the Tijuana International Guitar Festival. Felix received teacher training in the Suzuki approach for guitar from Frank Longay who founded this innovative approach for teaching young children to play the guitar.

In addition to teaching, Felix has run the popular “Guitar Nights” series for the past 18 years which presents guitarists of all styles in concert. He is currently the director of the Los Angeles Sound Foundation which recently presented concerts by Pepe Romero and David Russell.Felix Bullock received his undergraduate degree from the Peabody Institute, where he studied with Julian Gray. He completed his graduate guitar studies with Scott Tennant at the University of Southern California. He has also been honored to participate in master classes with living legends Manuel Barrueco and Pepe Romero. His solo recitals have been part of prestigious concert programs such as Baltimore’s Friedburg Hall Concerts, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and the Fifth Hispanic American Guitar Festival in Tijuana, Mexico. Mr. Bullock is also the Director of Guitarra Del Mar, which presents guitar concerts in Pasadena at the McKinley Auditorium. Recently, Mr. Bullock premiered Enrique González-Medina’s “Concierto De Medellin,” which was written for Mr. Bullock.
