Eric Huckins is a Long Island-based horn player, music educator, and arts administrator passionate about using music to communicate, connect and share.

As a performer known for his “sparkling, crystal clear sound” (Brass Legacy) Eric is a winner of Astral Artist’s 2018 National Auditions becoming the first horn player to be a part of their roster. Eric has performed internationally as a chamber musician, soloist, and with orchestras in Europe, Asia, and across the United States. He has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Kanye West, American Ballet Theater, and in numerous pit orchestras on broadway. An advocate for expanding and diversifying brass repertoire, Eric regularly arranges and commissions new works. Eric’s debut album ‘Drifter’ which features 8 new works for the horn was recently released April 2021 on Summit Records.

Passionate about bringing classical music to his community, Eric is the Executive and Artistic Director of Long Island Chamber Music, an organization that provides exceptional classical music concerts, community events, educational programs, and private lessons for Long Island communities year-round.

As an educator, Eric’s mission is to give students the tools to be their own best teachers. By encouraging creative problem-solving and critical thinking through a variety of methodical approaches, students will gain the tools for success in an ever-changing musical environment. Technical methodologies are inspired by the Suzuki method the Carmine Caruso method and musical methodologies are inspired by Marcel Tabuteau’s phrasing numbering systems. Eric’s students are regularly accepted to All-County, All-State, and All-Eastern Festivals and have been accepted to such institutions as Juilliard pre-college, Northwestern University, and Eastman School of Music. Eric teaches through Long Island Brass Lessons from his home studio in Commack, New York.

Eric received his Bachelor’s Degree from Curtis Institute of Music and his Master’s degree from The Juilliard School. Outside of his musical life, Eric loves spending time with his wife and violinist, Gergana, their dog, Scuttles, and is an avid guacamole enthusiast.
