I grew up in the Madison area and have been playing cello since 2000. In 2018, I moved to the Pacific Northwest to continue my passion of teaching and music. I started Miss Emma’s Studio in 2019 and have enjoyed working with a wonderful, hardworking community of families and students. I am a lifelong learner and will strive to always be the best teacher I can.

I have been teaching for the past 12 years to students ranging from the ages of 4 to 65. I enjoy working with students of any age! Many of my students play in the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras and chamber programs.

I have been trained in Every Child Can! and Suzuki Cello Book 1 through Book 3 under the instruction of Dr. Tanya Carey. I have also been trained in Suzuki Cello Book 4 under the instruction of Anne Grabe. I believe in building trust self-esteem, kindness, and respect through my lessons. I also prioritize body and mental awareness during musical study. I believe in helping my students become the best musician they can by finding their abilities and adapting to their learning needs with an open environment. It truly takes a village.

In addition to my Suzuki Training, I have a BM in cello performance from the University of Wisconsin—Madison under the instruction of Professor Uri Vardi.

The school year of 2017—2018, I orchestrated (pun not intended) a successful chamber program with 30 students. It was the first full year of the program and it continues to grow!
