Emily Johnson has been teaching strings for over 35 years. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri -Columbia campus with a degree in music education. Ms. Johnson grew up in Kirksville MO and also studied at Truman State University. Teachers who have influenced her include Eva Szekely, Dr. William Fitzsimmons, Kathy Rollings and Joseph Kaminsky in addition to the teacher training listed on this web-page.

Ms. Johnson has worked in a variety of previous settings. These include the Missouri String Project, Suzuki Violin of Jefferson City, Herbert Music Studios, Kirksville Public School District, Fort Zumwalt School District, and she has directed her own private studio as well. Currently Ms. Johnson runs her music consulting company Sweet Sounds, and teaches at St. Charles Community College. She is active as a clinician for workshops and clinics. Ms. Johnson performs regularly with Peaches Jazz, an old school traditional Jazz and Blues group based in University City.
