Emil Ivanov started playing the violin at the age of five, and holds prizes from several violin competitions such as the Pancho Vladigerov and Dobrin Petkov. He received his Master’s from Rice University, and his Bachelor’s in Violin Performance from Louisiana State University.

Emil’s principal violin teachers include Sergiu Luca, Kevork Mardirossian, Borislava Iltcheva and Blagorodna Taneva. He has participated in numerous master classes given by such acclaimed artists as Shmuel Ashkenazi, Ilya Kaler, Ifrah Neeman, Sergiu Luca, Kevork Mardirossian, Michael Frischenschlager, Jorja Fleezanis and Paul Kantor.

Currently Emil performs as Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, and, since 2003, has been a member of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Louisiana Sinfonietta. He is Personnel Manager and Librarian for the Acadiana Symphony, and a classical violin instructor at its Conservatory of Music where he specializes in the Suzuki method.
