Mr. Daniel de Lima

Daniel became interested in music as a child, when he “improvised” on a toy piano while his mother listened to him and washed clothes. Daniel is a guitar teacher and cultural producer from Brazil. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná and he also holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Southern Mississippi. 

He formed with his students the Chapecó Guitar Quartet, which in 2019 released an EP on digital platforms and two video clips on YouTube, made possible by a grant from the city of Chapecó. 

As a producer, Daniel has organized more than a dozen Suzuki teacher training courses. He was also the translator (English—Portuguese) of the courses taught by MaryLou Roberts, a worldwide reference in teaching guitar to children.  

He has taught Music Theory in the University of Contestado, and in the University of Planalto Catarinense. Daniel was a teacher at the 1st Brazilian Meeting Suzuki Teachers and Students (Brasília, 2015), at the 1st Suzuki Institute of Amazonas (2018), and at the 3rd ViBra – Suzuki Institute (São Paulo, 2019). 

Nowadays Daniel teaches guitar in Chapecó, online lessons, and he works in the production of teacher training courses, master classes, and workshops. He is also the host of the YouTube channel “Aprendendo a Ensinar Violão” (“Learning to Teach Guitar”), where he shares tips and teaching strategies with other teachers. He Suzuki Association of the Americas’s Board of Director’s member.

Daniel se interessou pela música ainda criança, quando “improvisava” num piano de brinquedo enquanto sua mãe o ouvia e lavava roupas. Hoje é professor de violão e produtor cultural, bacharel em violão pela Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná e mestre em música pela University of Southern Mississippi. 

Formou com seus alunos o Quarteto de Violões de Chapecó, que em 2019 lançou um EP nas plataformas digitais e dois videoclipes no YouTube, viabilizados pelo Edital das Linguagens da Prefeitura Municipal de Chapecó.  

Já produziu mais de uma dezena de cursos de capacitação para professores Suzuki. Foi o tradutor de cursos 
ministrados pela professora americana MaryLou Roberts, referência mundial no ensino de violão para crianças. 

Ensinou Teoria Musical e Harmonia na Universidade do Contestado, em Porto União, e na Universidade do Planalto Catarinense, em Lages. Daniel foi professor convidado no 1º Encontro Brasileiro de Professores e Alunos Suzuki (Brasília, 2015), no 1º Encontro Suzuki do Amazonas (2018), no 3º ViBra – Encontro de Professores e Alunos Suzuki de Violão (São Paulo, 2019). 

Hoje em dia se dedica a ensinar violão em aulas presenciais e online. Também tem um canal no YouTube chamado “Aprendendo a Ensinar Violão”, onde compartilha dicas e estratégias didáticas com 
professores de música. Faz parte do Conselho de Diretores da Suzuki Association of the Americas.
