Claire Mehm received her Master’s of Music in cello performance from California State University Long Beach’s Cole Conservatory of Music where she was a student of Dr. David Garrett, cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.  She has performed in the Los Angeles Cello Society concert series and as a participant in the California Chamber Music Institute. She has attended the Los Angeles Suzuki Institute and trained in Suzuki pedagogy with Rick Mooney and Tanya Carey.Prior to her studies at CSULB, Claire attended the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music where she received her Bachelor’s of Music in cello performance.  While at Hartt, she studied with Steven Thomas and Mihai Tetel.

She was a founding member of the Los Angeles based cello quartet, Love4Cello.  She also served as co-executive director and cello teacher for the Pasadena Cello Institute.  Currently, Claire is a member of the Dana Point and the Huntington Beach Symphony Orchestras. In addition to being the cello coach at Renaissance High School for the Arts in Long Beach, she is also a cello teaching artist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic through Youth Orchestra Los Angeles at the East Los Angeles Performing Arts Magnet.  Since 2008, she has freelanced and taught privately around the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.
