Violin, Viola, Suzuki in the Schools Teacher
Christine Collins graduated with honors from the University of North Texas with a BM focusing in Music Education and Elementary Music Education. She has 17 years of Suzuki experience between being a student and teaching. Christine is passionate about teaching using the Suzuki ideal of creating better citizens through music lessons.
Throughout her undergraduate degree Christine was lucky enough to not only study in the traditional classical approach, but to learn about and play Mariachi music with groups such as Mariachi Aguilas through the University of North Texas, and Mariachi Quetzal who had the honor of playing the opening set for the world-renowned group Mariachi Sol de Mexico in 2014. She also had opportunities to study at the Orff Insitute in Salzburg, Austria and the Kodaly Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary to learn more in depth about different wonderful music education methods.
Christine taught at Frisco School of Music in Frisco, Texas before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska and joining the wonderful faculty at Harris Academy of the Arts. She recently completed her ECC training and the Book I training with Rolando Freitag and looks forward to completing much more training in the years that come.
Christine has also completed Kodaly Certification for grades K-1 at the Southern Methodist University Certification Program and is part of the Music Outreach Program through the Lincoln Music Educators association, providing lessons to students who have financial need. Christine is a member of the Lincoln Music Educators association, the Music Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, the American String Teachers Association and the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
