Cellist Christina Rosser is a native of Akron, Ohio. started her cello studies at age eight under the Suzuki Method. She was a student of Deborah Newcomb at the Northern Ohio Cello Academy when she won the 1996 Akron Youth Symphony Concerto Competition. In 2001 Christina was a winner in both the University of Akron Concerto Competition, the Tuesday Musical Club Competition, and the winner of the Cleveland Cello Society Competition. During her studies she performed with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, and in master classes given by Steven Isserlis, and the Miami String Quartet. She attended the Meadowmount Music School as a student of Hans Jensen, the “Cellomania” conference in Atlanta as a pupil of Martha Gerschefski, and the National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland. She continued her studies with Michael Haber at the University of Akron, while simultaneously obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish. After earning her Master’s Degree in Music Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music under Richard Aaron in 2004, Christina completed work in Case Western Reserve University’s doctoral program where she focused on the baroque cello, the viola da gamba, and the medieval vielle. She studied historical performance practice at both the Amherst Early Music Festival, including baroque cello with John Mark Rozendaal and Rainer Zipperling, viola da gamba with Sarah Cunningham, and at the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute in Toronto to study with Christina Mahler. Christina has also performed with Apollo’s Fire, New Trinity Baroque of Atlanta, Seattle Baroque and Akron Baroque.

Christina has been a member of the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, CityMusic Cleveland, and the Canton Symphony Orchestra and is currently a member of the Akron Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with artists such as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Josh Groban, Barry Manilow, Olivia Newton-John, Rod Stewart, and Kanye West. Christina has taught cello at The University of Akron and at Hiram College. She now resides in Salem, Ohio, where she plays the cello each week at the church where her husband is a minister. They have four musical children.
