Chloe Ross is the founder of The Studio Violin, a Suzuki violin studio located in Lafayette, California. Founded in 2015, The Studio Violin is a warm and welcoming studio offering expert instruction in violin studies for children ages 3 to 18. Chloe is a Suzuki Association of the Americas Certificate of Achievement recipient as well as a recipient of the Suzuki Association of the Americas Distinguished Young Teacher Award. Chloe also serves as the Assistant Director of the Japan-Seattle Suzuki Institute. She has been a guest lecturer at The International Music Teacher’s Exchange Conference in Remscheid, Germany and was a presenter at the 2024 SAA/ASTA Biannual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

Chloe began studying violin at the age of three, in Seattle, Washington under the tutelage of Kathleen Boyer- principal second violinist with The Seattle Symphony. As a “Suzuki kid” herself, Chloe attended many institutes around the country including the advanced Japan-Seattle and Ithaca College Suzuki Institutes. Along with her Suzuki studies, she was also a member of The Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra program.

In 5th grade, Chloe moved across the country to begin musical studies at The Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. As a student at Longy, she studied music theory, music composition and history, and performed in monthly masterclasses with many notable renowned violinists. She was the youngest ever admitted member of The Longy Youth Chamber Orchestra, becoming concert master after only a short time with the ensemble. International tours include Canada, Mexico, Germany and the Czech Republic.

Continuing at Longy to receive her Certificate of Violin Performance, Chloe has competed in many competitions performing some of the world’s most iconic violin repertoire both solo and with orchestra.
Principal teachers include Clayton Hoener- principal second violinist of The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, as well as main study with the late Janet Packer- former Longy School of Music String Department Chair and acclaimed soloist. Secondary study with Mark Lakirovich, Sophie Vilker and Roman Totenberg.

In 2010 , Chloe moved back to Seattle and became a section violinist with The Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Adam Stern.

Chloe now makes her home in Lafayette, California and her private studio consists of over 50 families! Chloe is strongly influenced by those early years as a Suzuki student, and believes wholeheartedly in the magic of the Suzuki Method. She continues to study Suzuki violin pedagogy with principal mentor Charles Krigbaum, and has taken extensive training with Kerstin Wartberg, Diana Volodka Staggs, Edward Kreitman, Ann Montzka Smelser, Teri Eindfeld, Kathleen Spring and more. She is a registered Suzuki teacher in The Suzuki Association of the Americas, and an active member of The Suzuki Music Association of California as well as her local SAA chapter, The Suzuki Association of Northern California.

The Studio Violin is located in Lafayette, California is active in the Northern California Suzuki Association events. The studio consists of 50 families from around the East Bay Area and is ready to welcome you with open arms!
