I am passionate about teaching piano to children!
I have a Bachelors in Music Education from Cornell College in piano and flute.
I have spent many hours studying with Marilyn Taggart, about using the body in the most natural way, from the beginning lessons. I attend the Suzuki National Conference held be-annually and also the teacher training programs every other month with the Suzuki Piano Teachers Guild. SAM -Suzuki Association of Minnesota, also sponsors a weekend training, which I attend in the fall. We are lucky to be in the Twin City area which is so rich in music; teacher training, and performances!
Following my husband in his Navy career, I have taught piano in many states. I am a substitute teacher for music, band ,and elementary classes in our area.
At group lesson, we play music games through which I teach feeling rhythm and notes by singing, and finally reading the notes. They perform for each other each month, thereby becoming confident about playing piano for others. Once a year we do our group lesson at a Senior Citizens home, where the children see they have something to share.
I always perform for my students at our group lesson each month. They need to see their teacher enjoying music!!
