Catherine Godden

Catherine grew up in a musical family in Nottingham, England, starting both the piano and cello at a very young age. She has a MA in music from Cambridge University, and a cello teaching diploma and certificate of Advanced cello studies at the Royal College of Music in London. She has freelanced with many orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic, London Concert Orchestra and was a member of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra for many years as well as a substitute player for the San Diego Symphony.

On moving to San Diego her interest in the Suzuki method soon developed and she became a registered Suzuki teacher. For the last 18 years she has been a homeschooling Suzuki Mom, enjoying teaching many young children about music in group settings. She has a real passion for sharing her love of music and the cello with children of all ages, but particularly the very young.

She is also a member of the European Suzuki Association and is currently taking an online long term piano teacher training course with the Cambridge Suzuki Group based in the UK.
