Candice Amato is a violist and violin/viola teacher in Tucson, AZ. Originally from North Potomac, MD, she moved to Tucson in 2015 to join the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, where she is currently Assistant Principal Viola. Candice is also the is the Artistic Director of Tucson’s “If Music Be the Food,” a chamber music concert series that raises awareness and support for people facing food insecurity. In addition to her performing career, Candice maintains a private studio of violin and viola students. Previously, she served on the faculty of the University of Arizona’s Fred Fox School of Music, where she taught a full studio of undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate viola students.

Candice received Suzuki training at Buffalo Suzuki Strings, the Chicago Suzuki Institute, and the American Suzuki Institute at Stevens Point. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University.
