Violist Candice Amato has a versatile career as an orchestral musician, chamber musician, and teacher. Originally from North Potomac, Maryland, she now lives in Tucson, Arizona, where she is a full-time violist in the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her work with the TSO, Candice is dedicated to exploring creative ways to connect with people through classical music. She is the Artistic Director of the Tucson Chapter of “If Music Be the Food,” a concert series that raises support for people facing food insecurity in communities around the country.

Candice has also established herself as a sought-after teacher in Tucson, where she maintains a private studio of violin and viola students. Previously, she served as a visiting professor of viola at the University of Arizona, where she taught a full studio of undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate viola students. She attended Suzuki training at Buffalo Suzuki Strings and the Chicago Suzuki Institute.

Candice received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and her Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, where she was awarded a full merit scholarship.
