Currently resident in Amsterdam, Australian-born cellist Brendan Conroy has 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience. He has been a member of the Diemen Quartet and the Tasman Trio, and played as an orchestral cellist with the Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras. He has toured to perform on five continents, and played for many live chamber music radio broadcasts. Recent performances include concerts of new Australian works for cello and piano in Paris and Amsterdam in 2020.

He studied at the Queensland and Tasmanian Conservatoria, gaining a First Class Honours degree in cello performance, and later completed a Master’s Degree at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, studying cello and pedagogy with Lucia Swarts.

He has undertaken Suzuki training in the US and Europe—in the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and France— recently completing his European Level 5 Exam (all repertoire through to book 10), under the guidance of French teacher trainers Ruben Rivera and Chantal Latil.

Brendan has taught hundreds of individual students of all different ages and stages, and has worked extensively with youth orchestras and school music programs. He has been invited to teach at Summer schools and workshops in the UK, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Lithuania, and Australia.

Brendan taught at the Muziekschool Heemskerk, and the Hellendaal Institute in Rotterdam, and now gives private lessons in Amsterdam. He also teaches students in the UK, the USA and Australia via Skype/Zoom.
