Brendan Conroy is an Australian cellist and Suzuki cello teacher living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

He has 30 years of professional performance experience, including playing in five continents, as a section cellist with orchestras including the Tasmanian Symphony, the Sydney Symphony and the Asia-Pacific United Orchestra. He has performed in many live national radio broadcasts in various chamber music and solo recitals. Recent performances include concerts of contemporary Australian works for cello and piano in Amsterdam and Paris in 2020.

He studied at the Tasmanian and Queensland Conservatoria, gaining a First Class Honours degree in cello performance, and was in the inaugural courses of the Australian National Academy. He later completed a Master’s Degree at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, the Netherlands, studying cello and pedagogy with Lucia Swarts.

Brendan has taught numerous students of all different ages and stages, and has worked with youth orchestras and school music programs. He has undertaken Suzuki training in the US and Europe—in the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and France— recently completing his European Level 5 Exam (all repertoire through to book 10) under the guidance of French teacher trainers Ruben Rivera and Chantal Latil. He has been invited to teach at Summer Schools and workshops in the UK, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Lithuania, and Australia.

Brendan now gives private lessons in Amsterdam. He also teaches students in the UK, the USA and Australia via Skype/Zoom.
