Mr. Brendan Conroy
Currently resident in Amsterdam, Australian-born cellist Brendan Conroy has 20 years of professional performance and teaching experience. He has been a member of the Diemen Quartet and the Tasman Trio, and played as an orchestral cellist with the Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras. He has toured to perform on five continents, and played for many live chamber music radio broadcasts.
He studied at the Queensland and Tasmanian Conservatoria, gaining a First Class Honours degree in cello performance. He also completed a Master of Music Education at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, studying cello pedagogy with Lucia Swarts.
He has undertaken Suzuki training in the US and Europe—in the Netherlands, Spain and the UK— recently completing his European level 3 (to book 5).
Brendan has taught hundreds of students of all different ages and stages. He has worked extensively with youth orchestras and school music programs and has been an examiner and competition adjudicator.
Brendan teaches cello at the Muziekschool in Heemskerk, at the Hellendaal Institute in Rotterdam, and gives private lessons in Amsterdam. He also teaches students in the UK, the USA and Australia via Skype. His students range from very young to adult amateur, from beginner to advanced.
