Bailey Poesnecker is a passionate educator and performer based in Glastonbury, CT. Beginning her studies at the age of four on the violin, she quickly became passionate about music and received her bachelor’s in both viola performance and music education (instrumental-general) at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. She is currently pursuing her master’s in Suzuki pedagogy and viola performance at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT.

As a teacher, she collaborated with Leila Pertl as a teaching assistant at the Appleton Public Montessori School for four years in both the general music and strings programs. She has also maintained her own private studio for the last six years with students ages 5 and up. In addition, she served as one of the head teachers for the Appleton String Project, an after-school program that gave lesson opportunities to students all over the Fox Valley from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds. Bailey is motivated to understand each student’s individual needs and help them reach their goals while creating a life-long love for music.

As a performer, Bailey has had the opportunity to perform both here in the U.S. as well as internationally. Her classical performances include serving as both a soloist and collaborator at the Vianden International Chamber Music Festival in Vianden, Luxembourg, and collaborations with both the Bowdoin International Chamber Music Festival and the Credo Chamber Music Festival. Bailey regularly performs with award-winning pianist Evan Newman, their most recent project being Beethoven’s “Ghost Trio.” She enjoys performing classically on both viola and violin.

Bailey’s other performance projects include a wide span of genres and experiences, including an appearance with Mark Wood of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. She also collaborates with J. David Sloan and Western Bred, a country band based out of Phoenix, AZ. In addition, she has also had the opportunity to work with Mike Block, Hanneke Cassel, and Aoife O’Donovan. She regularly incorporates what she has learned as a performer of a variety of genres into her teaching, making her lessons vibrant and engaging.
