After telling her mom she was “bored,” April A. Genthe started Suzuki violin lessons at age five.  She studied privately with Siew-Eng Goh and was a member of the Elmbrook Chamber Ensemble, led by Anne Marie Peterson.  April attended the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha with a major in music.

April started her career as a violin teacher at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in 1998.  She has taken Suzuki Violin Teacher Training through the American Suzuki Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

April is registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas Books 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Suzuki Violin Method.  She believes that a teacher must always strive to become better every day through self-evaluation, training from knowledgeable teachers and performing.  She attended the American Suzuki Institute’s 40th Anniversary year in August 2010 where she took the Suzuki Book 4 Teacher Training Course with Edmund Sprunger.

April loves starting young beginners, but also has a passion for helping students that already play the violin refine their technique.  Helping students to understand the theory behind the music enhances their musicianship.

April is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Lake Country Music Club, and the Wisconsin Federation of Music. She has three children named Michael, Luke, and Lyla, and two Miniature Dachshunds named Murray and Gerold.  She is no longer “bored.”
