Annie Young-Bridges is a private Suzuki and traditional violin teacher and a string educator in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. She was awarded a full scholarship under the teaching of Nancy Hopper, and in 1985 earned her Bachelor of Music Education, Instrumental Emphasis from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she studied violin and pedagogy with Jerrie Lucktenberg. She earned her Suzuki “Every Child Can!” with Virginia Dixon in New Orleans, and her Unit 1 Teacher Training with Cathryn Lee at the Acadiana Suzuki Strings Institute in Lafayette, LA.

Ms. Young-Bridges performs violin professionally in classical and multi-style ensembles along
the Gulf Coast and Greater New Orleans Area. In Mobile, AL, Annie maintained a studio of 45 private Suzuki violin and viola students, and formed the Bay Area Strings Inter-generational Community Orchestra, the summer Chamberfest at Springhill College, and the Solo and Ensemble Festival.

Ms. Young-Bridges directed award-winning school orchestras in Texas, North Carolina, Alabama, and Louisiana, where she is and has been an adjudicator for state and local competitions. She is the founder/director of the NorthShore Strings Chamber Orchestra and Fiddle Camp in Covington, LA, now in its 9th year.

Ms. Young-Bridges currently teaches 250 string students in Mandeville, LA, for St. Tammany Parish Public Schools, as well as privately from her home. She is President of the American String Teachers Association Louisiana Chapter (LA-ASTA), ex-oficio board member and String Education Representative in Region IX of the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA).

In 2014 and 2015 Annie presented “Yoga for Violinists” at national ASTA and state LMEA conferences, and her post-Katrina violin playing and yoga story “A Flexible Approach” was featured in STRINGS magazine in December, 2015.

Annie lives in Covington, LA, with her husband, Jeff, and two rescue animals. They have three grown children, and she enjoys biking, hiking, cooking, yoga, and playing music with Jeff and friends.
