Mrs. Anna Sanders Lee
Cellist Anna Sanders Lee has worked with artists including Janos Starker, Colin Carr, Wendy Warner, Joseph Silverstein, Norman Fischer, Richard Aaron, Martin Katz, and Andrés Díaz. She has also attended summer festivals such as Scotia Fest in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Rencontres Musicales de Noyers in Noyers, Bourgogne, France where she studied with world-renowned cellist Gary Hoffmann. Her teachers have included Anthony Elliott, Rhonda Rider, Wesley Baldwin, and Janos Starker.
A native of East Tennessee, Anna recently received her undergraduate degree in Cello Performance from the University of Michigan where she was awarded both the Artistic Leadership Award and the Michigan Grant based on artistic and academic merit. While at Michigan, Anna gave many solo and chamber music recitals including performing at the Kerrytown Concert House and Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. She also performed with groups such as the University Symphony Orchestra and the New Directions Ensemble. Before attending the University of Michigan, Anna was the winner of the Conservatory Honors Chamber Music Competition and finalist in the string department honors competition at The Boston Conservatory. Anna was also the winner of Maryville College’s Showcase of Area Artists in her home state of Tennessee and had the chance to perform Lalo’s Concerto in D minor.
Anna currently serves on the Cello Faculty at the Merit School of Music in Chicago and completed her Suzuki Book 1 training with Sally Gross and Suzuki Principles in Action course with Nancy Jackson.
