Growing up surrounded by music, Ms. Hejnar began musical studies with the violin, performing her first recital at the age of three. Continuing her studies under Paule Préfontaine, she later joined the Ottawa Junior Youth Orchestra as a violinist. She began her voice studies at age sixteen with Professor Ewelina Kwaśniewska, who for nearly a quarter century was considered the lead soprano of the Grand Theatre, Łódź.

Ms. Hejnar began her undergraduate work as a Bachelor of Music candidate at the University of Ottawa, studying under Professor Ingemar Korjus, whose international career as a specialist in both opera and lieder helped to spark an interest in Ms. Hejnar for song literature. This collaboration led to invitations to perform in a variety of works and venues, among them the University of Ottawa Opera Company and the Opera Musica Orchestra, in roles such as Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen and soprano soloist in Brahm’s Reqiuem. Ms. Hejnar has also performed for Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, while also participating in Opera Lyra Ottawa’s production of Puccini’s Turandot. In 2011, she received first prize in the Canadian Music Competetition, where she was invited to perform in numerous concerts with Orchestre Metropolitain in Montreal. She also won first place in the Alexander/Buono International Voice Competition leading to her Carnegie Hall Debut.

While completing her Master’s Degree at the School of Music—University of Ottawa, Ms. Hejnar appeared as Lisa in the Altamura Center for the Arts production of La Sonnambula, under the baton of Maestro Michel Brousseau.

Since her graduation, Ms. Hejnar has been soprano for Opera Lyra Studio performing as Mabel from Pirate’s of Penzance and doubling the Queen of the Night and First Lady from Die Zauberflöte. She has appeared as the soprano soloist for works such as Haydn’s Creation, Handel’s Messiah, and Carmina Burana under the baton of Maestro David Bowser and Maestro Brousseau. Being a finalist in the Brian Law Competition in 2013 and 2015, she had the opportunity to perform at the annual Italian Garden Party in 2014 and numerous Viennese Ball Banquets. Ms. Hejnar currently performs the National Anthem at University of Ottawa Convocations in Southem Hall, NAC. In May 2016, she also received First Place in the Canadian Model and Talent Convention in Singing and Adult Female Commercial.

Currently coaching with Maddame Christiane Riel and Judy Ginsburg, Ms. Hejnar is preparing roles and concert repertoire for upcoming performances that include engagements in Canada and North America.
