Amy Britton began her violin studies at age 5 through the Suzuki program at the University of Louisville under the tutelage of Mary Katherine Mather. She continued her violin studies with Cheri Lyon Kelley, who nurtured her through several years as concertmaster of the Louisville Youth Orchestra and performing as soloist with the Louisville Orchestra. Later, she attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she majored in violin performance, studying with David Updegraff, and music theory, and also studied viola under Mark Jakobs. She later earned an M.M. in music theory from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her Suzuki teacher training has be led by Linda Stieg and Carol Smith, Nancy Jackson, Roger Steig and Ann Montzka Smelser.

Amy currently resides in Frankfort, KY, where she maintains a Suzuki violin and viola studio. Her students play in the Louisville Youth Orchestra. Her students regularly participate in Suzuki events in Cincinnati and Louisville. Additionally, Amy is Choristers Guild certified as a church children’s choir director and she has also taught at the Kentucky Christian String Camp.
