Ms. Amy Britton
Amy Britton began her violin studies at age 5 through the Suzuki program at the University of Louisville under the tutelage of Mary Katherine Mather. She continued her violin studies with Cheri Lyon Kelley, who nurtured her through several years as concertmaster of the Louisville Youth Orchestra and performing as soloist with the Louisville Orchestra. Later, she attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she majored in violin performance, studying with David Updegraff, and music theory, and also studied viola under Mark Jakobs. She later earned an M.M. in music theory from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her Suzuki teacher training has be led by Linda Stieg and Carol Smith, and she has also received training as a music educator through the Choristers Guild.
Amy currently resides in Frankfort, KY, where she maintains a Suzuki violin and viola studio. She has students playing in both the Louisville Youth Orchestra and the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra. Additionally, Amy lifeguards at the YMCA.
